Times Revisited - A Solo Album

Project Description

“BARBIERI – TIMES REVISITED – A Solo Album” is precisely that – a solo album.  All tracks were performed and recorded by me in my home studio.

The project was a long time in coming.  It all started as a hobby using analog open reel tape equipment a number of years ago with no intentions of production.  Once I outfitted the studio with digital equipment, borrowed drums, and bought my Korg Triton keyboard, the project was born.

The overdub studio procedure is a tedious one.  It took a tremendous amount of time, especially with one person doing all the tracks and no studio technicians.  With the time involved, the teaching year produced very little results with most work being completed during the last four summers.

The studio technique includes the following:  You record a track and then while monitoring it, you record the next track, and the you monitor those two and record the next track and record each subsequent track in that manner.  These 8-15 tracks, depending on the song, of course, are mixed down to stereo for the final CD.

Although the bands I was in played current rock songs, I selected for this first album tunes mostly on the mellow side and ones that were mainly my lead vocal responsibility while on the road in various bands, hence, Times Revisited.

In actuality, all the music, except for one song, was finished by last year.  Personal matters prevented me from moving along.  Also the production process took longer than expected.  I decided to go with a 16-page front, clear tray, and some complicated graphics.  All of which, I believe, were worth the delay.  Included in the 16-page packet is a photo and text band history of my musical career, which, I’m sure, some people will find interesting.

For those who are into classic rock, I’m sure you will enjoy these tunes, and for everyone else, hopefully they will grow on you.

Enjoy!
